Potential delays to this project:
https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/new ... fe-bridge/
It looks like Aberdeenshire Council have “temporarily” closed a bridge over the railway due to being considered unsafe, which would have become busier following the completion of this scheme. Somewhat concerning given the bridge up at Fordoun was demolished for similar reasons not that long ago.

Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
Has this been put in abeyance or stopped due to lack of funding- been ongoing for about 6 years now
Motorways travelled 2019 - M90 - M9 - M80 - M8 -M77 - M73 -A74(M) -M6-M42-M40 -A404(M) - M4 - M5 -M50 -M56 much better so far than last year
Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
Is there actually a public list of when Transport Scotland schemes are expected to start construction? It seems like schemes just hang around for years while still supposedly being 'in the programme'.
Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
This the best I know of.

As for Laurencekirk junction it seems to have dropped off the radar.

Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
Sum total of nothing there yesterday, still the same old junction as ever.

Thanks for that. Aside from completed schemes I think there is only one date there, which is blatantly false:KeithW wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 18:01This the best I know of.

A9 Dualling Perth to Inverness
Completion 2025
I also found this delivery plan which is similarly useless: https://www.transport.gov.scot/publicat ... 2022-2023/
The National Highways equivalent lists the dates when schemes will start construction and open for traffic: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/media/nu ... july-8.pdf
Do Transport Scotland really not tell the public when they plan to build their schemes? If so that's a pretty scandalous lack of accountability.
Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
You know there is a problem when the 4 bullet points for the National Transport Strategy are as quoted
In contrast this DfT equivalent
In addition Network Rail produced its vision with real targets

It of course actually covers real improvements in Scotland
Not a word about road, rail, canals or shipping and no commitment to do anything except report back to parliament in 2023. This level of waffle has been going on since at least 2016.https://www.transport.gov.scot/media/51675/national-transport-strategy-nts2-second-delivery-plan-2022-2023.pdf wrote: Scotland’s National Transport Strategy (NTS2) sets out an ambitious and compelling vision for our transport system for the next 20 years and outlines the four priorities for our transport system:
Reduces Inequalities
Takes Climate Action
Helps Deliver Inclusive Economic Growth
Improves our Health and Wellbeing.

The tangible results were the list of road improvements for RIS2 and RIS3Improve connectivity across the UK and grow the economy by enhancing the transport network, on time and on budget.
Build confidence in the transport network as the country recovers from COVID-19 and improve transport users’ experience, ensuring that the network is safe, reliable, and inclusive.
Tackle climate change and improve air quality by decarbonising transport (this outcome reflects DfT’s contribution to the BEIS-led cross-cutting net zero outcome).

Hi
Got an answer from Transport Scotland re the delay on this project just on 30 days since I emailed them, They are currently engaging with multiple objectors to resolve their concerns and if the cannot sort that out it will have to go to Public Enquirey - no time frame.

The can's been kicked so far down the road that it's all the way down in Torquay.
Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
I believe one of the issues is that a side road is to be stopped up as part of the plans, but that would involve diverting traffic down a crumbling bridge over the railway that Aberdeenshire Council has ‘temporarily’ closed (so the only access is via the A90 at present). Presumably the council is angling for Transport Scotland to pay for the bridge repairs.

Flyover project objection lifted by council
Aberdeenshire Council has withdrawn its objection to the Laurencekirk GSJ. There are apparently other objections still, and a PLI may still be required, so I guess we're still a long way off anything happening with this junction.

Re: Laurencekirk GSJ
A GSJ at Lochlands south of Forfar is not happening any time soon:
https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/an ... -estimate/£20m price tag for flyover at danger Forfar bypass junction
The potential cost of a grade-separated crossing is part of a planning submission from a developer bidding to close the Lochlands right-turn to Forfar on the A90.
Transport experts say it would cost £20 million to build a flyover to break the deadlock around development near the Forfar bypass.
But the huge cost and lack of any plan in the pipeline has led to a grade-separated junction at Lochlands being branded “completely unviable”.
