Try - Yew Tree Lane - Appleton Thorn, near Warrington. I've never driven down this road, but passed it and there are I think 3 Mercury concrete oldies.

Warrington used to be awash with Mercury even up until 3/4s ago but has had a massive replacement programme firstly with compact fluorescent and then LED. These 3 mercurys have been missed - but it could be a private road, I don't know. Regardless, if you want to see them- best get there quick as they could be replaced. Thanks.
Hello All,

Also a long time lurker.

I drove down to see them and can confirm there are 3 in perfect working order!

I think there is some hanging on at Salford Quays in more of the forgotten parts that has been pretty neglected but working (very dimly). Most of it is next to the canal going from the quays to the city centre, I will look into this and get some images when I can.

I drive past this lamp everyday that is in fully working order. Pretty sure its Mercury

It’s a long way to go but I found this trio still in use in Brunei earlier this year.

Most of Brunei’s street lighting has now been modernised but they seem to have been big GEC users as was neighbouring Sarawak - Miri still has a few gems hanging on.

Another mercury light found in Crawley Down! Seems to be a small bastion of the mercury lights!

Whille out on my motorbike I went through Groombridge, Kent & was amazed that the village seems to still be lit with mercury lights. Spaced quite far apart from about 4/5 still there!

A couple of Brum classics can still be seen in Edgbaston, the one seen towards the left was still day burning when I saw it yesterday after several years!

It's quite difficult to see, but if you reverse out to the main road and get the 2017 image, it would appear that they were still there at that point. Certainly the concrete columns were there...

I should have added - I drove down there the other day and they were still there. Some of them are lit but not all. There were a few other entrances to the estate around the perimeter so one evening I will see if there are any others.

There's a solitary example here, on School Road, Hall Green, Birmingham. The street lighting was upgraded to high pressure sodium around 30 years ago, but for some reason this lamp was left. It is still mantained and still works.

Aldbury in Hertfordshire is still lit entirely with MBF lanterns, although in daylight I can't tell whether they are fitted with SON-H lamps or not.

I was on a training course in Bournville this week and took the opportunity to have some walks after dinner. I was really surprised at the amount of mercury still around in this area.

Possibly my favourite was this road where virtually every light is still mercury. It was a real trip back in time at night walking totally down a road in their light, and a nice reminder of how many other streets used to be!

https://www.google.com/maps/@54.8039279 ... 384!8i8192 - Still some at Easington Services (Southbound). The northbound was aswell until very recently but have been replaced by LED. The A19 is mostly SOX at this point aswell but is being replaced in parts by LED near Dalton Park aswell so no doubt neither have much life left.

There are still (as of a couple of days ago) at least two left in Llandudno. This one [ https://goo.gl/maps/PiSqJ9NqcRQ2 ] was still working correctly when I saw it recently and there's another one nearby, although that's missing its bowl.

Funnily enough, a single, solitary SOX light has been left after the whole of my local area's lighting was upgraded. Wondered if local authorities did this on purpose to test how efficient newer lighting is versus old?

After watching the latest Billy Connolly programme, I noticed Glasgow has some old lights left.

I found this light in a backstreet of Nantwich yesterday:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/2tdbAxm6wmPgLwBe8

No idea if it is working or not but it was on its own as the rest are metal columns with LED heads!
