There are those signs on some roads across Salisbury Plain, but I don't remember any with warning lights.

Quite a few on Salisbury Plain and Lulworth Ranges.

Some of the ones in the Lulworth area come with the amusing legend "Sudden gunfire" ... I'm not quite sure what other kind of gunfire there is, other than sudden!

At the same junction as my pic in Wigan in the botched roadsigns thread. I found an 'ahead only' arrow which don't appear to be very common https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.54437 ... 312!8i6656

So no petrol driven cars then? I don't think diesel ignites very Well so they are ok. Given that some ev batteries like exploding, I guess they are banned too?

In the 90s when I use to go on car journeys with my parents to Cumbria, I always saw an unusual non-reflective very dark blue "wonky" motorway exit sign approaching the northbound exit to M6 J37 (Killington Interchange). Unlike the common (in the late 50s and early 60s) original wonky Anderson era motorway signs, this one at M6 J37 had a thin straight arrow pointing to A684 with a thicker righthand "wonky" arrow pointing to the continuing M6 mainline. I was always curious about that as I never saw any other signs like it on the motorway network. Unfortunately this sign was replaced with a generic modern motorway exit sign around 2000. Does anyone else remember that one?

The righthand wonky arrow Killington exit sign was one of the oldest motorway signs I've personally seen. Another equally old sign I've personally seen was an old non-reflective very dark blue M6 Southbound route confirmation sign just south of M6 J38 (Tebay Interchange) that said, "M6 The SOUTH Lancaster 30 Preston 51". Unfortunately the original Tebay RCS has also been gone since the 2000s.

Another equally old sign I use to see on my 90s Cumbria outings was on the northbound M6 just south of Tebay Interchange. This was another non-reflective very dark blue sign announcing the next 2 services as being Tebay and Southwaite. Unfortunately this has also been gone since the 2000s. All of these signs are from 1970 if I'm correct which was when the M6 Lancaster-Penrith Motorway was opened.

The sign denotes no vehicles carrying hazchem diamond explosives or flammable liquids. A normal vehicle is fine.

I did wonder in what circumstances these signs were used.

It was mentioned on another thread that these are apparently rare, so two for the price of one.

Helicopter traffic enforcement on the A6 at Whatstandwell and Aircraft traffic enforcement on the A54 at Allgreave
I'm sceptical whether the police really are using aircraft or helicopters for routine traffic enforcement.

Also worth pointing out that despite what TV says, it's very hard to make a car explode without putting a bomb in it. Petrol burns easily but the giant exploding car deaths seen on soap operas are just ridiculous unless the car is already full of fuel vapour, which does explode.

It's more Hollywood movies and US cop shows than soaps, I think, but the point is correct overall.

Yep, we've started to copy that a bit too much. The whole thing started with the Ford Pinto crash test which, as you will know, ruptured a fuel tank and contact with hot metal caused a vapour explosion.

With the rail strike, I am on the bus to get to work, so going on roads that I don't normally travel on. I noticed this sign tonight. I don't ever recall seeing another saying ignore sat-nav.

This is the only "graphical" no-SatNav sign I've seen (assuming that is what it means).

I'm actually pretty impressed that the googlecar made it down the road even beyond this point.
