Re: Rare Roadsigns
You definitely have to ask what is the actual point!
Is there a road improvement project going on near you? Help us to document it on the SABRE Wiki - help is available in the Digest forum.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
At least is makes a bit more sense than this one.danfw194 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 13:55 Anyone have any clue what this sign is? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.16982 ... 6656?hl=en
Let it snow.
Re: Rare Roadsigns
First time in my 18 years of driving I saw the "leave at the next exit" arrow, on the M40 at J2 yesterday evening.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Theres one near me that says "Unsuitable for wide vehicles." Mind telling me what you mean by "wide"? wide as in, 50 feet wide? 2 metres wide? 2 inches wide? Help?Conekicker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 20:34I rather think these two signs are far more important - and sadly grossly out of position. They should be back at the junction because where they are located means overweight/long vehicles now need to find somewhere to turn around.Alderpoint wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 17:39Been there a few times. I like the warning 6 miles to the north - must be a contender for the furthest away warning sign - unless you know better??OliverH wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 23:52 another rare one: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.16313 ... authuser=0 (Hump back bridge). Whilst the second one is a prescribed sign, (Diagram 820), it's rather unhelpful - define "long".

Re: Rare Roadsigns
And whats going on with that axle sign? I thought those were no longer being erected!
Re: Rare Roadsigns
I saw another a week or so ago, kicking me off the eastbound M54 at J1 because the M6 was closed.

A very old "T-junction" sign. Back then the continuing road was depicted the same width as the side road.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Yes, this is a pre-1975 sign; the thicker arrows to denote priority were added to remove any confusion such signs may cause. At the same time the old 1964 T junction sign was phased out; its new meaning being for 90 degree bends with a side turning. In 1994 the junction on bend sign was introduced to stop misuse of the T junction sign which is also rare now: https://goo.gl/maps/bpWrC3QBVcGpuRwLAWhiteBlueRed wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 02:21 https://www.google.com/maps/@52.9555556 ... 384!8i8192

Re: Rare Roadsigns
There was one here at Mickleham, that has been replaced with a modern (aka wrong) equivalent. The old one can be seen if you go back to 2009.

Re: Rare Roadsigns
Do these T junction and give way signs on the same backing board contradict each other?
Re: Rare Roadsigns
Yes. The top one implies that you have priority over traffic coming from the right. That sign could be removed entirely, you just need the inverted triangle and the plate below it.swissferry wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 19:16 Do these T junction and give way signs on the same backing board contradict each other?

Oh dear. Also the unnecessary 'Dual Carriageway' plate underneath too.Nathan_A_RF wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 15:13 There was one here at Mickleham, that has been replaced with a modern (aka wrong) equivalent. The old one can be seen if you go back to 2009.
