Pre-Worboys sign

It seems unlikely that a pre-Worboys variant of this sign was ever created.

Worboys Report sign

This sign is predominantly used at places where queues are a regular occurrence but not necessarily at the same time each day. The sign can be used to warn of traffic turning right on busy roads, traffic signals or wig-wag lights, or busy junctions hidden by a bend or crest in the road.

The diagram on the warning triangle (diagram 584) shows three of the common rear-view car silhouettes one ahead of another, but staggered in a diagonal line running from the bottom left of the triangle to the top. This sign should always be accompanied by the worded supplementary plate containing the text "Queues likely" (diagram 584.1).

Irish sign

The Irish equivalent is warning sign W 163 Queues Likely (as prescribed in the Traffic Signs Manual 2010). The symbol used is almost identical to that employed in the UK version, though placed, of course, on a yellow diamond background. A detailed difference, however, is that on the Irish sign the drivers are silhoutted while in the UK version the cars appear to be empty!
