The A1006 is a short urban link road in west Essex.
The road starts on the A503 to the east of the Walthamstow Reservoirs. It heads south along Blackhorse Road, immediately passing the station with the same name as the road on the GOBLIN railway line, which is then crossed. The road follows a winding course southwards to become St James Street, the local shopping street, and goes under the Chingford Branch Line by another station named after the road.
After bending sharply left the road turns right at a roundabout to continue its southerly course. Presently it reaches traffic lights on the A104, crossing it at a staggered crossroads. A couple of bends later the road TOTSOs left at traffic lights to pass Leyton parish church and end shortly afterwards at a gyratory on the A112.
