The A1168 is a link road in west Essex some 20 miles from Central London. Originally numbered B171 it presumably gained its current number following construction of the M11 in the 1970s.
Our road leaves the A113 at a mini-roundabout near Rolls Park Farm. It heads north across open fields and soon becomes dual, in order to serve M11J5, which only has slip roads towards London. On the far side we cross the River Roding before the road narrows again.
The road now enters the urban area. It goes under the Central Line near Debden station, then a couple of mini-roundabouts take us onto Rectory Lane. Although we remain urban there is a service road and then we cross public open space. There are almost always houses nearby, however. The road soon ends at a mini-roundabout on the A121.
