The A1244 was reserved on the 24/10/2000 for the Northern Gateway Access Road near Waltham Abbey.
The route would have been a short link, involving bridges over the Lea Valley, just to the south of the M25.
After failing at the inquiry stage it is unlikely to be built; however in July 2013 the campaign to build it began again.
