For the original A4125, now part of the A4042, see A4125 (Little Mill - Abergavenny).
The A4125 (renumbered from the B468 after 1975) is an urban A-road on the northern edge of London.
The road starts in the shadow of the Metropolitan Line on the A404 in Northwood. It heads north along the residential High Street before turning left then right at consecutive mini-roundabouts (the B469 continues ahead from the second). The road now continues along Watford Road. It soon enters Hertfordshire and passes the MoD joint services HQ, behind the barbed wire to the left. After the B4542 heads off to the right the HQ's entrance is passed, after which the road skirts the edge of Oxhey Wood, thus becoming rather rural.
The HQ is soon left behind and replaced by large houses, which are set back from the road and so are not immediately obvious. The road then crosses a corner of the wood, with occasional buildings visible to remind us we're technically still in an urban area. The road shortly becomes lined with houses on the right and turns sharply right to avoid crossing the River Colne.
The houses on the right disappear for a short distance before coming back but we remain within sight of open fields on the left for longer, until after the B4542 comes back in on the right at traffic lights. Now a typical suburban road once again we meet the A4178 at traffic lights then skirt the southern edge of Oxhey Park. This takes us to a low bridge under the Watford DC Line and we end just afterwards at the roundabout under the WCML's Bushey Arches.
