The A5137 is one of the feeder roads from the M53. It gained its number after the motorway was built, having previously been the western section of the B5137.
The A551 turns off the A540 at a roundabout in Gayton, a suburb of Heswall. The A5137 begins by turning right a few yards further on. It runs along the suburban Brimstage Road before bearing right to pass under the Borderlands Line by Heswall station. The railway line marks the edge of the urban area and we now continue east across the fields.
The A5137 in Brimstage village
After a couple of bends we reach the small village of Brimstage and run along the main street before reentering open country. A few more bends take us to our terminus at M53J4, where we also meet the B5151 and the B5137 continues into Bebington.
