|Route outline (key)|
The A5229 was a short link road in Luton. It existed for about 10 years, becoming defunct in about 1987.
The route started on the A505 Dunstable Road and headed east along Waldeck Road under the railway line and continued along Cromwell Road to end on the A6 New Bedford Road. Dunstable Road may now be the B579 as the A505 may have been rerouted on to the parallel Hatters Way.
Today it is only possible to follow the route of the former A5229 eastbound, as the first section of Waldeck Road, from its junction with Dunstable Road, is one-way. There is also a turning restriction that means it can only be accessed by traffic travelling towards Luton.
