As part of the A83 Access to Argyll and Bute project, improvements at Glen Croe, through the Rest and be Thankful were proposed in 2020. The section of road is subject to regular closure and long diversions during winter months following landslips.
The 2020 consultation proposed 11 different route corridors[1]:
In 2021, a Preferred Corridor Announcement was made, choosing Route Corridor 1[2]. Within this corridor, five possible route options were proposed:
