Abbots Road Roundabout lies to the north of Falkirk and is primarily designed to provide access to the industrial areas along the canal to the south. The A9 here was built in the early 1990s to relieve the town centre of through traffic, and also give better access to the industrial areas that ring the north of the town. The roundabout is a simple 4 arm junction, with the A9 crossing from east to west, using a former railway line, Bankside leading south into the industrial estate and Abbots Road heading north. This last is now severely limited, with the mainline turned into the new Asda Distribution Centre, and Abbots Road itself gated as it only accesses the sewage works.
