Aberfoyle Roundabout, also known as the Rob Roy Roundabout lies about half a mile or so to the south east of the small Trossachs town of Aberfoyle. The Rob Roy Hotel lies in the south west corner of the roundabout and gives it its alternative name. The junction is a Y-shaped equal-angle 3 arm junction, with the A81 forming the south and north east arms, whilst the A821 heads northwest into Aberfoyle itself. All three routes are busy, particularly in summer months, with tourist coaches exploring the national park, and the roundabout eases traffic through the junction.
The junction was originally a simple T Junction, although it is unclear which route had priority logic would assume it was the A81. Unusually, the roundabout appears to have been built without needing to realign any of the approaches. Instead, they were simply flared to allow traffic to navigate more easily, and yet minimise the extra land required.
