Airport Way Roundabout East

Airport Way Roundabout East is junction 9a of the M23. It is on a spur of the M23, which comes off M23 J9 (Gatwick Interchange), the other side of the roundabout is the A23, however again its a spur which connects into the northbound of the A23 using Airport Way Roundabout West. The roundabout provides access to Gatwick Airport's South Terminal. During 2019 there were upgrades to the M23 between J8 and J10, including the Gatwick Spur which is getting a 3rd permanent running late westbound into this roundabout.

1975

Roundabout opened along with A23 Spur (Airport Way) and the M23 Spur

2020

As part of the M23 SMP, the M23 spur Westbound (towards the roundabout) was widened to 3 lanes, this resulted in some minor changes at the roundabout

2020s

It is proposed as part of the works of the Gatwick Airport Northern Runway Works to grade separate this roundabout into a standard grade separated roundabout and widen the other M23 spur carriageway to 3 lanes (ALR) as well.
