History
Arran & Bute have been served by a variety of services over the years, from various mainland ports. They have also been connected to each other by ferry in the past, but not at present.
Crossings
At present there are four ferry services connecting Arran & Bute to the mainland (2 each), and one for Great Cumbrae Island:
- Brodick Ferry Crossing from Ardrossan in Ayrshire to Brodick on Arran.
- Kilbrannan Sound Ferry Crossing from Claonaig in Argyll to Lochranze on Arran. In the winter months, a reduced service operates from Tarbert.
- Rothesay Ferry Crossing from Wemyss Bay in Ayrshire to Rothesay on Bute.
- Kyles of Bute Ferry Crossing from Colintraive in Argyll to Rhubodach at the north end of Bute.
- Cumbrae Ferry Crossing from Largs in Ayrshire to Cumbrae Slip on Great Cumbrae.
