The B1057 is a rural B-road, mostly in Essex.
It starts on the B1008 (formerly B184) at Church End, Great Dunmow. It heads east, crossing the River Chelmer and passing the eponymous church before leaving the town behind. It zigzags through Bran End and Duck End and enters Great Bardfield, home of the Great Bardfield Cage (the village lock-up). The River Pant is crossed and then the B1057 enters Finchingfield where it crosses the B1053 via a staggered junction in the village centre.
Finchingfield also has a section of the village called Duck End and the B1057 leaves this way before going through Cornish Hall End and getting to Steeple Bumpstead. There is a short multiplex with the B1054 here before the B1057 crosses a few fields to reach the A1017 Haverhill bypass. It crosses this via a roundabout, entering Suffolk around the same time, before ending on the old road through the centre of town, now numbered A143.
