This article is about the original B1138 in Norwich.
For the former B1138 in Great Yarmouth, see B1138 (Great Yarmouth).
For the former B1138 in Great Yarmouth, see B1138 (Great Yarmouth).
The original route of the B1138 was the northwestern section of the city centre relief road.
Starting on the A147 Aylesham Road the road headed south along St Martins Road before crossing the River Wensum by the long-gone City station at the present westbound A147 bridge. The road continued south down Grape Hill and ended on the A1024 Earlham Road.
The road was soon made redundant as the A1024 (originally the southwestern section of the relief road) was extended clockwise. As it bypassed the route of the B1138 the entire road was declassified.
The southernmost section of the ex-B1138 has since been upgraded to become part of the A147 inner ring road; Oak Street and St Martin's Road are still unclassified.
