The B1179 was a short link in Spalding, connecting the A16 with itself.
The route of the A16 through the centre of Spalding was New Road, Hall Place, Market Place and Bridge Street. On the map, this seems to be a long way round as Broad Street cuts off the corner. Broad Street was allocated the number B1179 but the longer route must have been more important as it got the A16 moniker. Certainly, Broad Street is not as wide as would be expected or as its name suggests.
The B1179 is now unclassified and one-way southbound, except for the southern end which is pedestrianised. Owing to its short length, it is not known exactly when the road was declassified, although it was certainly still in existence during the 1960s.
