The original location of the number B1241 was on a road in the Holderness area of Yorkshire.
In the early 1920s the A1033 was extended east from Hedon to the coast at Withernsea, taking over the entire route of the B1241, freeing up the number for use further south. Hedon has since been bypassed and so the western end of the former B1241 is now numbered B1240.
