|Route outline (key)|
The road starts at a roundabout at the southern end of the bypass and heads northeast along the dead-straight Cromwell Road. We pass an industrial estate and an out-of-town shopping area (where the road briefly becomes D1) before the road bears left to meet the River Nene. We follow South Brink along the river's right bank and the road becomes residential for the first time - but only on the right. North Brink, on the other bank of the river, is only a short distance away on the left but it's not until we reach the town centre that there's a bridge to get there, accessed by traffic lights. Adjacent is a landmark memorial to Thomas Clarkson, a local abolitionist.
We continue alongside the river along Nene Quay to reach a roundabout on the A1101 town centre relief road. Here we leave the river and head east along Lynn Road. There's a D1 section to Wisbech Park, after which we bear left then right into the suburbs. After crossing a mini-roundabout the road opens out, running between housing estates (this is actually a bypass of Old Lynn Road just to the south). It's not long before we reach open fields and we bear gradually round to the right along a road that was clearly upgraded back in A47 days. The old A47 turns left at a roundabout to go through Walton Highway whilst we continue ahead and end at the next roundabout back on the bypass.
