Due to 3000 new houses being built to the North of Burgess Hill, on both sides of the B2036, the main new artiary road called the Northern Arc Avenue crosses over the B2036. In planning documents it states that it wants to make the B2036 less attractive and making the A273 more attractive for those heading north out of Burgess Hill, despite that the B2036 is safer than the A273 and wider. The plans make a 140 meter section of the current B2036 [part of the main east to west residential artiary and gives priority to east to west traffic.
