The B2079 is a largely rural B-road in central Kent.
Branching from the Maidstone to Staplehurst section of the A229 at a road fork immediately beyond the inn at Stile Bridge (a mile and a half south of Linton), the B2079 sets off southwards and passes through Milebush before crossing over the London to Ramsgate railway line and threading its way through the village of Marden.
It reaches Winchet Hill two and a half miles further on before descending into Brandfold where the B2084 (its number unindicated) branches off to the left.
Continuing into Goudhurst, where it crosses the A262 by the village pond, the B2079 then climbs past Bedgebury Cross and skirts Bedgebury Forest before ending at an at-grade junction with the dual-carriageway A21 three quarters of a mile northwest of Flimwell.
