|Route outline (key)|
The road starts on the A283 at Fittleworth with two short spurs from the A283, the eastern of which is rarely used as School Lane cuts the corner more efficiently and is not one-way. It trundles through Fittleworth, forming the main street of the village and passing The Swan Inn. There then follow three shallow humpback bridges, the first over seemingly nothing (perhaps an older route of the River Rother), the second over the River Rother, and the third over the now removed Pulborough – Midhurst railway. The old station house is on the right.
After this, the road heads reasonably straight towards the A29 where it finishes. Large parts of this section seem susceptible to subsidence, leading to a very bumpy ride in places. The entire route is signed as "Unsuitable for HGVs", though whether this is due to the subsidence or slight narrowness through Fittleworth is unclear; the signage is often ignored anyway.
