|Route outline (key)|
Starting at a junction with the western end of Queen Street (today unclassified, formerly the A3019), the route proceeds southeast along The Hard. Running through Old Portsmouth it intersects the A3 and A288 at roundabouts. About half a mile later it meets the B2151 Victoria Road in Southsea. After doglegging right-left across the latter it then continues east into Eastney, where it terminates at a second meeting with the A288.
The section east of Victoria Road, Southsea, follows what had originally been part of the B2151, before that road was rerouted to continue southwards to the seafront.
