This article is about the original B2156 in Sussex.
For a later road also numbered B2156 near the Medway Towns in Kent, see B2156 (Medway).
For a later road also numbered B2156 near the Medway Towns in Kent, see B2156 (Medway).
The B2156 was a short B road cutting the southwest corner between the A229 (now the B2244) and the B2089 near Cripps Corner in Sussex. The B2089 crosses the other road at a bridge and therefore getting from one to the other requires the use of a third road.
The road was originally unclassified but was the first new Class II number in the 2-zone, thus dating to the early 1920s. However, by the end of the 1950s, it had become unclassified, presumably due to its width.
