Today's B2158 was created on 13 April 1927 with the opening on that day of the Farnborough bypass in the then-Bromley Rural District of Kent. It follows the former route of the A21 through Farnborough village, diverging from the bypass at The Green, at the eastern end of Farnborough Common. A mile later the bypass is met again, and crossed via a roundabout junction, before the B2158 descends past Metrobus's Orpington Depot to end on the A223 at the northern end of the High Street, Green Street Green.
