The original B2168 was created around 1 April 1925, when the B230 was diverted onto Bromley Road in Beckenham to avoid multiplexing with the A222. This required a very short length of Beckenham High Street to be allocated a new number.
Around 1 April 1929, the road was upgraded to become part of the A2015, which remains the case today.
