The B2178 is a short B-road in west Sussex. The road was originally unclassified but gained its number in the late 1920s.
The road starts at a TOTSO on the B2146 to the west of East Ashling. This junction was originally a crossroads but the road heading north now joins the B2146 to the west. Heading east the B2178 passes through East Ashling and then leaves the South Downs National Park. We continue along a leafy route to reach the suburbs of Chichester. The road enters the city along St Paul's Road and ends on the Northgate Gyratory on the A286 ring road.
