Old London Road through Mickleham
The B2209 follows the original route of the A24 through the Surrey village of Mickleham.
Before opening of the dual-carriageway Mickleham bypass in the late 1930s, the main road from London used to turn sharp left at the northern end of the village. Today it continues straight on before sweeping southward to follow the railway line through the Mole Gap. The B2209, meanwhile, climbs gently through the village for 700 m or so before descending to meet the A24 again at a roundabout just before it crosses the River Mole at Burford Bridge, beneath Box Hill.
