The B2430 is a short road heading into Leatherhead from the north, which was created when the M25 opened and changed the road layout adding a bypass around the north-east of Leatherhead.
Route
The road starts on the A244 and heads south, immediately crossing over the M25 in the vicinity of Junction 9. After a long left-hand bend we reach a roundabout giving access to retail, where we join the old A243 before the M25 existed.
The road continues south along the dead-straight, residential Kingston Road through the suburb of Leatherhead Common. After a mini-roundabout we cross a bridge over the Mole Valley Line and then descend to the end of the road at a roundabout on the A245.
History
The road before the M25 was constructed
As its number suggests, most of the road was originally numbered the A243, as this was the route through the north of Leatherhead before the M25 was built past it. The northern half used to be the end of the A244 and at a roundabout at the top of Kingston Road, the A244 and A243 met. The road south was the A243. Since then, Junction 9 has taken the road around Leatherhead Common.
