The B3136 number was originally used for the road from Cheddar to Wedmore. In 1935 this route, along with the B3104 to the south, was absorbed by an extended B3151.
Starting at the crossroads at the bottom of Shipham Hill to the north west of Cheddar, the B3136 ran along Upper New Road, which is now part of the rerouted A371 through the town. Continuing south along Lower New Road, the B3136 crossed the Levels and passed through Clewer, Crickham and Cocklake before entering Wedmore on Cheddar Road and terminating on the B3139 Church Street.
