The B3152 is the main road through Ansford and Castle Cary. The town is 'bypassed' by the A371 and A359 to the east, using convenient roads rather than a new alignment, with the B3152 always having run along its current route.
The road starts by the station, where the A371 has done a large loop to cross the railway, and runs down the western side of Ansford, essentially just a suburb of Castle Cary. In the middle of Castle Cary, a large one-way system carries traffic around the narrow streets of the town centre, with various TOTSOs and other junctions to navigate, before the B3152 continues south to its terminus on the A359. The last section is a narrow road between high hedges, with the junction suddenly bursting into view.
