The B3234 is the steep B road that heads south out of Lynmouth, climbing the hill to Lynton and then continuing to Barbrook. In doing so, it cuts several miles off the route of the A39 as it winds its way round the valley, meeting our road at each end. Indeed, before the A39 was moved onto the Watersmeet road in the late 1920s, it climbed up this route itself.
