The B383 is a semi-rural B-road just outside the southwest corner of the M25.
Originally the B383 started on the A320 in Woking and headed northwest across Horsell Common. However, this section is now numbered A3046 and the current southern end of the B383 is on the A319 in Chobham.
It heads north from Chobham, heading past expensive property including Chobham Place and Burrowhill. It crosses a bridge over the M3 before meeting a roundabout on the B386, after which it goes across Chobham Common and changes county to Berkshire. Broomhall and the A30 are then reached.
There is a short multiplex west along the A30; then the road follows a winding route vaguely northwards through Sunningdale, where the B383 crosses the A329 via a staggered crossroads.
The next village is Cheapside, after which the B383 enters Windsor Forest. At one time the classified road ended here as further on was a private road. However, numbered roads are now able to cross Crown land and so the B383 continues, to cross the A332 at an unusual dual roundabout. The road terminates about a mile further on at Cranbourne Chase, where it meets the B3022 at a roundabout.
