|Route outline (key)|
The B4398 is a rural B-road on the Welsh/English border.
It starts on the B4393 immediately to the south of the Vyrnwy New Bridge near Bryn Mawr. After crossing the river it goes over the disused Montgomery Canal (via a culvert rather than a bridge) before following the canal quite closely via Wern (which is a 20 zone) to Llanymynech, a village famous for straddling the border between England and Wales).
The B4398 crosses the A483 (which at this point is running exactly along the border) to enter the Shropshire countryside. It continues vaguely eastwards via Maesbrook to end at a T-junction on the B4396 on the edge of the village of Knockin.
