The B4437 is a road across North Oxfordshire serving Charlbury. It was originally unclassified, gained its number west of Charlbury in the mid-1920s and was extended to its current route in 1935.
The road starts at a crossroads on the A361 between Shipton-under-Wychwood and Burford. It heads northeastwards, descending gently into the valley of the River Evenlode. After a mile or so it decides it does not want to reach the valley bottom and so continues to run along the valley side, bypassing villages like Ascott-under-Wychwood which lie alongside the river.
After a couple of miles of contouring the road skirts a wood then descends into the valley in earnest. We go over the Cotswold Line above Charlbury station (road access is provided via a mini-roundabout), then cross a narrow bridge over the Evenlode to enter Charlbury itself. After climbing Dyers Hill we TOTSO left at a T-junction into the narrow Thames Street then take the next right turn into Nine Acres Lane. After skirting the recreation ground of that name we give way at a crossroads. Left is the B4022 and that road now takes on the road ahead. We multiplex along it, skirting the eastern side of town before it TOTSOs right at a left-hand bend for the B4437, where our road regains its number.
We head eastwards out of Charlbury along Woodstock Road then follow a winding route across fields and the occasional wood. We pass a few isolated buildings but no other places of any size. Presently a dead-straight section of road leads to the Ditchley Gate of Blenheim Park; we bear left here and it's not long before we reach the end of the road at a T-junction on the A44.
