|Route outline (key)|
The B4442 is a route linking Chalfont St Giles to Little Chalfont, avoiding Amersham. The route was first classified in 1925, linking Chalfont St Giles with its station (Little Chalfont didn't exist back then).
The road begins at a double-mini roundabout junction on the A413 and the road to the village centre of Chalfont St Giles. It heads northeast, climbing quickly up the side of the valley as Vache Lane, and then becomes Nightingales Lane at the top of the hill. Nightingales Lane is lined by large and very expensive houses, including one owned by Noel Gallagher. Heading along a plateau, the road passes through wooded areas, skirting the edge of them and after a bit gets more built up as it enters Little Chalfont. Nightingales Lane ends and the B4442 bears right onto Cokes Lane; the road becomes a lot more built up. Cokes Lane, and the B4442, ends on the A404 at Nightingales Corner.
