The B4538 was a short link road in the centre of Daventry. Originally the road's western half was numbered A425 whilst the rest was part of the B4036 but later, presumably following construction of Daventry's first bypass, the A45 Western Avenue, the road gained its own number.
Starting on the Western Avenue the road ran eastwards along Warwick Street and the High Street to end on the B4036 in the Market Place. However, as Daventry has more recently become totally encircled by bypasses, the A45 has moved still further out and the B4538 is no more. The High Street is one-way westbound.
