The B4562 is an urban B-road through the northern suburbs of Cardiff. The road was originally unclassified but gained its number in 1935.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A469 in the suburb of Llanishen and heads east along Ty-Glas Road, passing a supermarket and an office block to reach traffic lights. We TOTSO left here and continue to go over the Rhymney Line by Llanishen station. The road then loses the centre line as it continues through Lisvane to reach open country.
On reaching the edge of the urban area once more there's an unsigned TOTSO left; the unclassified road ahead runs through Pentwyn to reach the A48. Our road, meanwhile remains narrow and rural as it skirts Cardiff Gate services and associated business park, neither of which are accessible from this road. The road briefly widens to go under the A4232 but then returns to more of the same. After crossing the Rhymney River we enter Old St Mellons and the quality of the road actually gets worse.
A T-junction is soon reached, where the B4562 originally ended on the B4288. That road no longer exists, however, and so our road now TOTSOs right and immediately increases in quality. We go over the A48, which is in cutting, and continue south through St Mellons to end at a T-junction on the B4487.
