Route outline (key)
B4595 Talbot Green - Pontypridd
Former railway bridge on the B4595 in Tynant

The B4595 is a winding road in South Wales following much of the original line of the A473. The road came to the area in the 1960s then took over the A473 in the 2000s.

The road starts at traffic lights on the A4119 and heads east along Talbot Road into Llantrisant where there's a sharp left-hand bend into the High Street. The ex-A473 continues along the unclassified road ahead whilst we now follow what was the B4270 until the 1960s.

We zigzag out of the valley and reach a summit whilst still in the town. There's then a brief semi-rural section before we bear left to pass Beddau. At a roundabout with a clock in the middle we turn right then left at a mini-roundabout soon afterwards. We descend to go over a stream and under a disused railway bridge. After a few bends we reach traffic lights where we return to the ex-A473. A spur of the B4595 turns right to reach the present route of that road after nearly a mile but the mainline turns left.

We head more-or-less northeastwards through Llantwit Fardre and Church Village to reach traffic lights where the B4595 splits again. The road ahead is the original A473 but this has been turned into a one-way link and is only really suitable for traffic continuing along the B4595. Turn right to reach another set of lights where a spur of the B4595 turns right to meet the A473 or left to continue along our road's mainline; this is the only way when travelling in the other direction.

Heading north the one-way link quickly comes in from the left and gives way to us and we continue north along the Taff Vale, with the railway close to us on the right. After passing a campus of the University of South Wales we go under the railway line then follow a one-way loop through Treforest. Northbound traffic uses Park Street and southbound traffic the parallel River Street. The two meet at a gyratory from where three parallel bridges (one for pedestrians, one each for the two carriageways of the B4595) cross the River Taff to a roundabout from where the A470 and A4054 can be accessed. However, this is a spur and the mainline of the B4595 continues northwest along Broadway, hemmed in between river and railway line, to end at traffic lights on the A4058 on the edge of Pontypridd.
