The B5148 is a short link road to the south of Birkenhead.
The road starts to the west of the town centre at a traffic-light-controlled crossroads, where it meets the A552 and A5029. It heads southeast along Whetstone Lane before reaching a T-junction. The B5148 TOTSOs right here; the road to the left is the B5147.
The B5148 now heads south along Church Road through Tranmere. It passes St Catherine's Church, which has a prominent spire, before reaching a roundabout on the edge of Victoria Park. The B5148 takes the first exit, continuing alongside the park, before reaching another roundabout where it meets the B5172.
The B5148 continues vaguely southward along Bebington Road before ending at a set of traffic lights on the B5149 Old Chester Road. That road TOTSOs here and forms the road ahead.
