B5201

Fairfield

The B5201 is a semi-rural road in south Lancashire.

The road starts at traffic lights on the A57 on the campus of Whiston Hospital and heads north before turning left at a roundabout to go over the Liverpool - Wigan Railway Line near Eccleston Park Station. It then crosses the A58 at traffic lights and enters open country.

At Gillar's Green the B5203 heads off westward shortly before the B5201 enters Eccleston (not to be confused with Eccleston Park). It zigzags round the village centre (including a right turn at a mini-roundabout) before continuing along Bleak Hill Road to meet the A570.

The B5201/A570 junction has been remodelled at least twice. At first it was a simple crossroads, then in the 1930s the A580 was built through the junction and the B5201 gained a short multiplex north along the A570 as far as a roundabout where it met the A580. The roundabout has now been replaced by traffic lights and the B5201 leaves the A570 even further north.

The B5201 continues to the northeast to cross the Rainford Brook and pass Fairfield Hospital before reaching the village of Crank. It TOTSOs left at a T-junction opposite the nursery school before ending round the corner on the B5205, where that road has to TOTSO.
