This B5444 is a road in the Bon-y-maen area of Swansea. Originally part of the B4292, the road was upgraded in the 1960s to become the A4217. When that road's central section was rerouted, the bypassed road was returned to Class II status as the B5444, despite that number's being not only a duplicate but also considerably out-of-zone.
The road starts at a T-junction with the A4217 and runs north-eastwards along Pentre-chwyth Road to Hanover Square and then north along Jersey Road parallel to the A-road. At a mini-roundabout the B5444 turns left (a stub of the old road can be seen continuing ahead) immediately to rejoin the A4217 some 2.5 km after it first left it.
Vehicle speed over the greatest part of the route (after an initial brief 40 mph section) is restricted to 20 mph, with short 30 mph transitional zones at either end.
