||Highburton – Scissett
Station Road, Skelmanthorpe
The B6116 is a semi-rural B-road in Kirklees.
The route starts on the A629 in Highburton and heads southeastwards along North Road, which runs almost seamlessly into Kirkburton. The road zigzags along the main street before leaving town along Huddersfield Road. It climbs, steeply in places, with excellent views to the rear. Eventually the village of Shelley is reached, up on the moors.
The road bends to the left in the village and passes a garden centre on the edge of open country, then continues across the fields to Skelmanthorpe. It descends the main street, bearing left by the cemetery and then continuing to descend until eventually it reaches Scissett. The road ends here at a T-junction on the A636.
