The B6436 is a secondary road heading south from Kelso. It was originally unclassified but gained its number in the late 1920s.
Turning off the B6352 to the south of Kelso, the B6436 initially heads southwest before a sharp left-hand bend takes it on a winding course up a hill. The road then descends through a wood before a couple of zigzags take it past Frogden and then down into Linton. None of the places the road passes through are of any size but Linton does have a kirk, just visible across the fields to the right of the road. We now cross the bottom of the valley of the Kale Water then go over the river just before journey's end at a T-junction on the B6401. Morebattle is a short distance to the right.
