Route outline (key)
B7011 Wildmanbridge - Garrion Tower
This article is about the current B7011 through Law in Lanarkshire.
For the former B7011 in Strathaven, see B7011 (Strathaven)
.

The B7011 is a link road through the Lanarkshire village of Law.

Brownlee House

The route starts at traffic lights on the dual A73 opposite the site of the former Law Hospital and heads southwest along Wildman Road. Fields spread off to the left while the right is lined with a row of houses bookended by two industrial sites. After crossing the West Coast Main Line, the roadside becomes fully built-up, with Station Road winding gently through a suburban area. There is an interesting mix of older houses and mid twentieth century council housing along the roadside, many of the newer properties undoubtedly replacing the substandard miners cottages that the village once consisted of. After passing through the village centre, with a scattering of shops, the route winds out of town along Brownlee Road and soon returns to open fields. Patches of woodland can be seen between the fields, and as the road crests a slight rise, it too becomes more wooded, as it starts to descend into the valley of the River Clyde.

The long straight over the crest soon gives way to a steepening, windy descent through trees, with the road bearing right to avoid the river itself. A couple of small burns are crossed and then a short, sharp climb leads up to a T-junction on the A71. This junction was substantially rebuilt and signalised in 2022 to remove what was quite a sharp and blind fork that could lead to long queues of traffic, particulalry at busy times when traffic was also queueing for the nearby Garrion Bridge junction on the A71.

History

The route was originally unclassified but gained its number in either 1935 or 1936, as it is first depicted on the 1936 edition of the OS Ten Mile Map. However, as it is not listed in the document which marks the demise of the previous B7011, it can be presumed it was not created in 1934..
