This article is about the original B734 in Wigtownshire.

The original B734 was a medium-length B-road on The Machars in Wigtownshire. It started on the A714 at Braehead, to the south of Wigtown, and headed south via Kirkinner and Sorbie to reach Whithorn. After leaving town the road headed southwest for about a mile to end on the B735 end-on at Glasserton.
The route did not last long as it had been upgraded to Class I status by 1930, becoming the A746, which it remains. Indeed, it is probable that the A746 was created in 1924 or 1925.
The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Braehead - Whithorn - Glasserton
