This article is about the former B889 on the Isle of Barra.
For the other former B889 on South Uist, see B889 (South Uist).
For the other former B889 on South Uist, see B889 (South Uist).
When the roads were first classified in 1922, there were no classified roads on the Isle of Barra. By 1934, the A888 ran as it does today in a complete ring around the island.
However, in 1927 the Bartholomews map shows the road as being the B889, which must necessarily have been short lived as the number was originally used on South Uist, upgraded to be the A865 in c1924. The route of the B889 on Barra was, as far can be ascertained, identical to that of the A888 today.
