Route outline (key)
B913 Dollar - Gowkhall
Bridge across River Devon

The B913 winds through the hills from Dollar towards Dunfermline in north east Fife.

The route begins at a T-junction with the A91 in Dollar, and heads south along Devon Road. The Devon Way, now a cycle route following the former railway line, passes underneath at the edge of the village, after which two short straights lead through fields to the bridge over the River Devon. The road curves round to the east on the southern side of the river, and climbs steadily up through trees, curving gently round the hillside to meet the B9140 at a T junction. A short distance further on, it crosses the A977 (formerly the B910) at a staggered crossroads. This was originally a normal crossroads and traces of the original alignment can still be seen in the trees in the south west corner of the junction.

The route then curves round in a big loop to the south, almost heading back to the A977 at one point (a minor road makes the connection) before doubling back again to head south east, dropping slowly down to the bridge over the Black Devon. It then climbs more steeply through a dip between two low hills to reach a fork junction with an unclassified road which also heads back to the A977 and is a busy cut through at times. Heading east now, through fields with patches of woodland, the village of Saline is reached around a mile later. The B913 passes through on West Road and then Main Street, the village making a sort of hourglass shape with the waist where the road name changes. At the east end of the village, the B913 TOTSOs to the right, the main road continuing ahead as the B914 towards Kelty.

Having reached a summit of around 160m, the road curves between the houses and golf course, heading south then south east as it dips down to the Bluther Burn. Farms and houses are dotted along the roadside, while to the west trees hide the former Blair House open cast coal mine site. A fairly long straight past Cowstrandburn gives way to an undulating windier final mile, with the B912 coming to an end at a T junction on the A907 at the west end of Gowkhall village.

The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Dollar - Saline - Gowkhall
